Week 3 day 2

In day one of this week you learned more on praying, you may have thought about your prayer life and even noticed that maybe you were just requesting things from God, Instead of simply having a conversation. In order to go deeper in your prayer life, you have to learn to pray in faith.

Entering God's Presence
The Old Testament teaches that prayer is an act of actually coming into God's presence.

Isa.6:1-3- "In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord seated on a throne, high and exalted, and the train of his robe filled the temple. Above him were seraphs, each with six wings: with two wings that covered their faces, with two they covered their feet and with two they were flying. And they were calling to one another: Holy holy, holy is the Lord almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.

In Isaiah 6:1-3 the prophet depicted heaven as a temple. As Isaiah came into the presence of God. Witnessing God majesty, Isaiah experienced the holiness of His presence.

So when we pray we too can imagine entering the temple as you approach God and experience His awesome holiness.
If we begin to imagine the temple is broken down into 9n levels. With each level successively limited access to groups of people.

1.Holy of holies
2.Holy place
3.porch
4.slaughterhouse
5.Alter
6.Court of priest
7.Court of Israel
8.Court of Women
9.Court of Gentiles

In the Bible times a layperson could on enter certain areas of the temple. Only the priest was permitted to enter the area contained the Holy of holies- the most sacred place and the innermost part of the temple. But Christ provided a way for all people to enter the Holy of holies and to have an intimate relationship with God through prayer.

Approaching God
When you approach God, it is not proper to rush into His presence and bombard Him with your needs. First thank Him for all he has done for you. Thanksgiving is the way to approach God.

Think about some things that you take for granted for which now you would like to want to begin thanking God?_____________________________________________________________________

In Thanksgiving you express gratitude toward God, generally in response to His concrete acts. God values prayers of thanksgiving more than acts of sacrifice.

What kinds of things do you thank God for?____________________________________________
Give an example of each area in which you can give thanks for.

*Deliverance from trouble:_______________________________________________________
*God's faithfulness:____________________________________________________________
* Forgiveness of sin:____________________________________________________________
*Creation:___________________________________________________________________
